“Timless Elegance”
DIOR : Eau Sauvage
by Roudnitska (1966)
Made by nose Roudnitska, first male scent by DIOR. Name from 'oui, Savage' in reference to a friend of Dior's. Diorella is the female counterpart. First to use dihydrojasmonate, which is derived from jasmine and is citrusy, but long-lasting.
It's called the definite chypre, but it doesn't have animalic base notes. No fuss, no civet, no castoreum. Steam-lined, elegant. Little projection, long staying power. Citrus drying into musky wood.
